The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) held an urgent consultation with the leadership of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), directing the bourse to refine its surveillance mechanisms and curb generalized probe letters sent to brokerage houses.

The benchmark DSEX index experienced renewed selling pressure as daily trading turnover drifted toward the Tk 410-430 crore threshold. Market participants cited regulatory uncertainty and speculative surveillance queries as major deterrents for institutional funds.

"Regulatory enforcement must be surgically precise and grounded in hard forensic data. Blanketing entire sectors with exploratory queries damages investor psychology and depresses essential market liquidity," a senior BSEC commissioner noted.

Both institutions agreed to establish an automated digital surveillance desk capable of flagging genuine price manipulation anomalies in real-time without disrupting regular institutional order flow.
